UNTITLED PROTOTYPE KNIFE
Here is a picture of a rough prototype. The case is made of 303 SS and the blade is A6. Now that I have something tangible, I can see things I like and some I'd like to change, but this is the general idea. As of now the physical dimensions are 1.750 O.D. X .300 thick. Please note that when the blade is in the closed position all you will see is the outside profile of the case. In case you're wondering I'm going to use a ball detent for a blade stop.

Aw, at first I thought this was a "rotary knife", you know - the kind I use to cut leather... Upon closer examination, it looks like a thumb stud, and you slide the blade out. Will it be hard to sharpen, near the "sheath"? Or do you take it apart to sharpen? I guess you would rarely use the parts of the blade that are in the "corners"?
I want a custom rotary knife, like this, but with a comfortable handle, and Sk8board NMB / German / Swiss sealed bearings...
Yes the blade is actuated by the thumb stud. Keep in mind this is a ROUGH prototype. I'm thinking of eliminating the radius near the blade and making the knife edge straight to make re sharpening easier while obtaining more usable blade.
Thanks, Kenn
Kenn,
I am looking forward to this moving forward from prototype. Would be a cool blade to have handy for package opening-maybe?
John
It is still in the pipeline

I Like this one a lot!

I like it, keep the blade round.
Thanks,
Maybe I'll make interchangable blades an option...:)
